    Summary

Ultimate Tinymce will add over 40 new buttons to the default WordPress editor, giving you the power to visually create your pages and posts. No need for playing with the HTML and CSS.

    What rocks:

Beautiful, easy to use formatting and tables make your blog posts look great.

    What sucks:

It is in maintenance mode (not being developed further).

    Low Down:

This is a great tool for doing more with your blog posts and don’t understand HTML or CSS. Change fonts, colours, styles and add tables and make your posts look awesome, with useful additional features.

    Cost:

    $0 Free Version
    $39.95 Pro – Single Site
    $149.95 Pro – Multi Site

    The Review

This review is about the free version – note: the free version is no longer being developed. It is being maintained for new releases, updates etc. But they are not adding new features etc. Even so, I still LOVE it and will add it to all my websites.

I installed Ultimate Tinymce for the ability to easily add tables into posts for directories etc. But I am just using the tiniest bit of the many fantastic features including image mapping, which allows you to add multiple links to one image (how cool is that!).

I tested adding tables to this blog, on the left I have images and text on the right. When I first opened the Ultimate Tinymce plugin menu it was a bit intimidating because there are so many options! But they have a tutorial that shows you the basics and within 5 minutes I had added the table option to my blog.

    Seriously – 5 minutes!

The table itself is not intuitive, but I figured it out quickly (just click in one of the tiny fields and type a few letters).

The ability to add such nicely lined up tables is heaven for a formatting freak like me, and like I said I have only just started to figure this tool out. So I have included here a small tutorial from the maker and I will be back with a new review once I have tried out the image mapping too.

    Hi Serena,

Thought I’d drop you a note to say hello and thanks for all the great info on the site. A couple of quick questions: How do you think that Tiny MCE compares to Windows Livewriter? Also, what’s your impression on MailChimp? I’m getting ready to switch over to either them or Aweber and I’d like to know what your experience has been so far.

I’ll keep on dropping by. Too many resources to ignore.

    Regards,
    Ovais Mirza
