When you create your Twitter profile, you can add a link to your website.
A lot of people simply link to their home page.
But, you’ll get a lot more value from the people who click on this link if you direct them to a landing page specifically created for people who arrived there from Twitter.
I first heard about Twitter Landing Pages when I attended the ProBlogger training day a few month ago. After the event I got in touch with Jade Craven, relationship marketing specialist. These are some of the tips she shared.
What to include in a great Twitter Landing Page.
1. Greeting
Acknowledge that the person has arrived from Twitter and thank them for visiting.
2. Video
This is a fast way for people to get you know you and for you to share the key information that you want them to know, like who you are, what kind of information you have on your website, what you tweet about, how they can subscribe to your updates etc.
3. Photo
Let people see who you are! For consistency, use the same photo that you’ve used on your Twitter profile.
4. How you use Twitter
Include information about “what’s in it for me” if I follow you and read your tweets.
5. Tweet Frequency
Depending how much time a user spends on Twitter, and how many people they are following, each person has a different expectation for how often they want to see a tweet from you. So let them know what to expect.
6. What you Tweet about
Let people know if your tweets are strictly Business, or Pleasure, or a mix of both. Again, so they know what to expect.
7. Your Twitter policies
Explain whether you follow everyone back, or only certain types of people, whether or not it’s OK to pitch to you on Twitter and other information that you’d like everyone to know up front.
8. Your Twitter Lists
Sharing your Twitter Lists on your landing page can demonstrate your authority, and it provides new choices for people to follow.
9. Include other information like
- Your other Twitter profiles (if you have any)
- Articles you’ve written about Twitter
- A Call to Action, perhaps to take up a special, Twitter only offer
- An invitation to connect via other methods eg email, Facebook and LinkedIn.
